Why does the US care about helping people in the middle east but not those in Africa?

MILLIONS of HUMAN beings have been slaughtered through genocides, Muslim conflicts and so on reasons in Africa in the past 10 years. Why does the US not give a *** about it? Yet it is spending trillions of dollars to fight Iraq because Saddam is responsible for killing 1,800 people? Why is African news never ever in the headlines in the United States while Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel and N. Korea are, when MILLIONS are dying in wars throughout the continent of Africa?
