SHould I ask a girl out who hangs out with, what some would call the tart/bitchy group?

I'm at university and there's this girl that I really like but I'm not really sure whether to or not since 2 of her friends (the ones she hangs out with a lot) are according to what I've heard on campus, can be a bit hallow towards people. A bit like the cheerleaders in high school.
