Best route by train/bus (Singapore/Thailand/Malaysia)?

You can take a train, bus or plane between Bangkok, KL (I'm uming) and Singapore - all three are fairly inexpensive. Air Asia is very inexpensive and has regular flights from Singapore to Bangkok. My choice though, would be the train. The buses really suck.
